The Malta National Aquarium is home to 52 tanks featuring Mediterranean marine life, reptiles, insects, amphibians, and replicas of historical artefacts found in Maltese waters. Its main tank, spanning 12 meters in diameter, houses Indo-Pacific species such as black tip, zebra, leopard, and bamboo sharks, along with other exotic marine creatures. A walk-through tunnel provides visitors with an immersive underwater experience.

Designed in the shape of a starfish, the aquarium complex includes a laboratory, food preparation room, quarantine facilities, and a promenade with recreational spaces and a children’s play area. Dedicated to education and conservation, the aquarium offers engaging learning programs, alongside public talks promoting awareness on littering, species loss, and marine preservation. Actively involved in environmental initiatives, it works to protect Qawra Point’s natural surroundings and foster a sense of responsibility for marine life among visitors and staff.
